Octopus CRM review: simple, cheap and honest about what it is

Octopus CRM does four things: connect, message, view, endorse. It doesn't pretend to be a platform, and for some users that's exactly right.

Paul CassidyBy Paul Cassidy, founder of Prospectio.ai. Ex Google, Salesforce and Twilio sales leader. Updated 4 September 2026.
In short: Octopus CRM automates four LinkedIn actions with a simple campaign builder and a funnel view, for around $10 to $40 a month. Chrome extension, so the usual architecture caveats. Good value for a solo user, not a team system.

Disclosure: we build Prospectio, a competing tool at a much higher price and scope.

What it is

A Chrome extension that automates connection requests, messages, profile views and skill endorsements, with a basic sequence builder and a funnel dashboard showing how many people moved from viewed to connected to replied.

What it does well

Clarity. You always know what it’s doing. Four actions, a list, a sequence. There’s something to be said for a tool you can fully understand in ten minutes.

Funnel analytics. The conversion view (views, invites, accepts, replies) is more useful than the raw activity counters most cheap tools give you.

Price. The entry tier costs less than a couple of coffees.

Personalised auto-connect. Merge fields in invitation notes, which at this price point isn’t a given.

Where it stops

Extension architecture. Runs in your browser, on your machine and IP. Same trade-off as Dux-Soup, Waalaxy and Linked Helper.

No real personalisation. First name and company. Nothing reads the profile.

No email, no voice, no video. LinkedIn text only.

Thin team features. It’s built for one person.

Who should buy it

  • Solo founders, freelancers and consultants running modest, steady outreach.
  • Anyone who tried a complex tool, never used 80 percent of it, and wants the simple version.

Who shouldn’t

  • Teams, agencies, or anyone with meaningful volume.

The verdict

Honest, cheap, limited. If your outreach is a few dozen well-chosen people a week and you write your own messages, it does the job.

Frequently asked questions

Is Octopus CRM a real CRM?

Not in the Salesforce sense. It tracks your LinkedIn activity and campaign performance. Treat it as an automation tool with reporting rather than a place to manage deals.

How much does Octopus CRM cost?

Tiers from around $10 to $40 per month, among the cheapest in the category. Check octopuscrm.io.

Is it safe?

It's a Chrome extension, so the usual caveats apply. It has activity limits and a fairly conservative default posture, which helps.
