What the data says about this persona
Solution architects are the best-value persona in the dataset and almost nobody targets them. They reply at 38.1 percent, book at 5.9 percent and carry a €47,200 average deal, which works out at €2.78m of pipeline per thousand prospects contacted, the highest of the fourteen.
The reason is the one that runs through the whole dataset. They sit one rung below the person with the budget, they own the problem technically, and they have diary space. They are also, in most enterprise deals, the person the buyer turns to and asks “will this actually work”. Getting to them first means the technical objection is answered before the commercial conversation starts.
They were the persona in our largest targeting test. Across 6,870 prospects, broad role-based targeting of architects and heads of engineering replied at 13.0 percent; the same sequence sent to a verified ICP with a subject-matter match replied at 51.9 percent. No copy change we ever tested came close to that.
What to put in the message
A specific technical constraint you know they have. Their stack, by name. A competitor product they have probably evaluated. One question about how they handle it today.
What to leave out
Business outcomes and ROI language. Architects discount it instantly, and it signals you have not spoken to anyone technical.
The format itself does not change by persona. Across every segment we tested, the winning first message was two and a half sentences, ended in a question, named something of theirs, said nothing about us and landed between 240 and 420 characters. That version replied at 44.5% against 18.6% for the same message with solution detail added.
Method
Figures for this persona come from 15,490 prospects inside a wider dataset of 389,890 prospects and 15,018 meetings, run for 17 clients across 41 programmes between 2018 and 2026. Prospects were split at random inside each client account, so industry, geography, seniority and company size are held constant on both sides of every controlled test. Meetings are counted at the point one was accepted in the client’s calendar; we do not track what happens after that.
Full method, all fifteen tests and the breakdowns by company size and region are on the 2026 outbound benchmarks page.
