The BD problem in recruitment
Recruiters are excellent at candidate outreach and often inconsistent at client outreach. Business development happens when the desk is quiet and stops when it’s busy, which is backwards. The agencies that grow have a steady stream of new client conversations regardless of how many roles are live.
Targeting that works
Hiring signals are the best list source in recruitment. Companies with several open roles in your specialism, companies that just raised or announced expansion, companies with a new Head of Engineering or Sales who’ll want to build a team. Pull those into a list, then let the ICP filter score each contact: is this person a hiring decision maker, is the company the right size, is the sector one you place in.
The message
A hiring manager gets recruiter messages weekly and ignores most of them because they’re generic. Yours should reference the specific roles they have open and what you’ve placed recently that’s similar. Then a voice note after they accept. Thirty seconds of a real person who’s clearly read their job ads outperforms every template.
Replies and terms
The reply in recruitment is usually “send me your terms” or “we have a PSL”. The auto-responder sends the terms, answers the PSL question the way you’ve told it to, and proposes a short call. You come in when the conversation is real.
Account safety, because it’s your livelihood
A restricted LinkedIn account is a serious problem for a recruiter. Prospectio runs on a residential IP per account, through a mobile-style API, with limits below LinkedIn’s thresholds. The ICP filter also means fewer ignored invitations, which is one of the signals LinkedIn uses. Details on account safety.
